Welsh box maker to create new jobs after securing bank and government funding
Welsh Boxes, a Swansea-based box manufacturer, has revealed some pretty impressive expansion plans after managing to secure bank funding and a Welsh government grant to buy new specialist equipment.
The company invested in excess of £600,000 in machinery which enables it to speed up production of big packaging boxes for heavy industry customers. In order to obtain the required funds, Welsh Boxes got a helping hand from NatWest and Lombard, RBS’s asset finance arm, while also securing a grant from the Welsh Government’s Wales Economic Growth Fund, a news report in the local business media could reveal.
Managing director Ron Hinder said: "There are 500 box companies in the UK but not many can manufacture really big boxes, and this is part of our investment strategy. We have created five new jobs as a result of having the new machinery. These new jobs are in addition to our existing 55-strong workforce."
