Time and attendance systems can help bolster productivity and improve workforce management on construction sites such as the one that’s about to be opened on a Welsh Government-owned site near Caerphilly after a proposed mixed-use development featuring 200 homes and 70,000 sq ft of commercial space is set for approval.

According to a news report in the local media, Ove Arup and Partners, acting as agent on behalf of the Welsh Government, submitted an application earlier this year to Caerphilly County Borough Council for a scheme at Ty Du in Nelson.

The scheme proposes the construction of up to 200 houses with 50 of these to be affordable homes. Plus, light industrial units measuring a total of 67,800 sq ft would also be built, together with parking and public open space.

The majority of the 47.44-acre site was acquired by the former Welsh Development Agency by compulsory purchase in 1999 and subsequently transferred to the Welsh ministers when the organisation was disbanded.

It currently comprises a mix of uses including agricultural land, a disused sports ground and an area of material from the Nelson bypass construction works.
