Advanced time and attendance systems designed to make very good use of CSCS cards for recording attendance are the perfect solutions to help streamline activities on busy construction sites, such as the new scheme planned by Tata Steel UK on a site in Llanelli.
The steel manufacturer, via agent Turley, has submitted an outline application to Carmarthenshire County Council for a 24-acre site at Cefncaeau, Llanelli, located to the east of Parc Pemberton Retail Park and Parc y Scarlets. Tata’s Trostre steelworks is located to the south, beyond the A484.
Up to 280 homes are proposed, together with open space, landscaping and other associated infrastructure.
An element of affordable housing would be included with the exact provision to be decided at the reserved matters stage, together with housing sizes and types.
The site is allocated for housing in the council’s adopted local development plan.
A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: "The site is immediately available and would not only contribute to the housing needs of Llanelli, but to the overall housing provision for Carmarthenshire County as a whole.
"The illustrative masterplan demonstrates that the site is capable of being developed in response to planning policy with no detriment to the character of the site or the surrounding area, and that the amount of development proposed is appropriate. It will result in an attractive scheme, which delivers a high quality development."
Plans for residential development on the site were previously approved in January 2008. A number of issues subsequently arose, leading to head of the planning division of the Welsh Assembly Government identifying the need for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
