Retailer in Merthyr Tydfil doubles store size

One of the UK’s largest retail chains has revealed plans to double the size of its Merthyr Tydfil store, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to find.

Retail giant Next will take a 20,000 sq ft unit at the Cyfarthfa Retail Park, which will be increased to 40,000 sq ft with the installation of a mezzanine. The new store will open in autumn 2015.

The company has agreed a 15-year lease on the unit with retail property specialist EJ Hales at a rent of £30 per sq ft.

Robert Hales, partner at EJ Hales, said: "It is great to see that Next is in a position to double its store capacity. Over the last ten years, Cyfarthfa Retail Park has really grown in popularity and it is a really positive sign that some of its original tenants are now expanding into larger units which will further strengthen the park.

"Next will also be looking for additional staff members which is fantastic news for the local community."
