Neath Port Talbot Hospital will no longer handle emergency cases from the end of Tuesday (August 21, 2012), due to a lack of sufficiently qualified doctors. Approximately 26 patients a day will be taken to hospitals in Swansea and Bridgend instead. The health board administering Neath Port Talbot estimates that 80 per cent of the patients who would have been admitted will be transferred to the Morriston Hospital in Swansea, with the rest to Bridgend’s Princess of Wales Hospital.
