Plans put forward for 25MW wood-fuelled power station in Pembrokeshire

Renewable Developments Wales has submitted a full planning application to Pembrokeshire County Council to construct a power station comprising a combustion plant, fuel storage facilities and an administrative and visitor centre building on a 12.8-acre site on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The decommissioned Royal Navy Armaments Depot (RNAD) Trecwn site is located near Fishguard and 1.5km to the south west of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It was used extensively by the MoD between the 1930s and 1980s, employing more than 3,000 personnel at the peak of its activity.

However, the site has not been used for about 20 years so Renewable Developments Wales considered it to be a perfectly suitable location for building a 25MW power plant, which would use woodchip or pellets to produce steam, hot water and electricity, a news report on the matter was able to reveal.

The facility would require up to 30 staff to be onsite at any one time, while there would need to be as many as 50 road deliveries per day to supply enough fuel to keep the plant going.

Should this initiative get the green light from the County Council, the company will certainly require the implementation of a very solid, reliable and affordable proximity card-based security access control and time and attendance system. Such an advanced solution enables managers to restrict access to specific areas based on specific clearance rules, while also constantly monitoring staff attendance.

Whether we’re talking about simple access control solutions or more complex systems, also including extensive Time and Attendance features, Time & Attendance – Wales has the necessary expertise to provide customers with a complete and comprehensive bespoke solution, that will perfectly fit their requirements.

Our advanced smart card time and attendance system includes European Working Time Directive checking and reporting, ensuring that your company remains compliant with both regional and national legislation. Additional major features we have to point out include Weekly Clock Card, Payroll Summary, Absence Summary, Fire Roll Call or Shift Swapping.
