Plans for 200-home development on former school site set for approval
Plans to build a new 200-home development on the site of a former school in Cwmbran are set to be given the green light, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.
The Llantarnam Comprehensive School closed its doors in September 2015 after it was deemed surplus to the council’s needs. Under plans submitted by Barratt Homes (South Wales), the existing buildings on the 17-acre site will be demolished to make way for 225 homes. A mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties is proposed together with a three-storey apartment block.
The application will be considered by the council’s planning committee on 15 November 2016 and councillors have been recommended to grant consent by a report prepared ahead of the meeting.
