Packaging machinery manufacturer to create 40 new jobs following investment

A packaging machinery manufacturer is set to create and safeguard 40 jobs in Newtown, Powys, after investing £1.5m in a new facility, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.

The RM Group said that since acquiring the 37,000 sq ft factory on Mochdre Industrial Estate and investing in new plant and equipment it had achieved its sales targets two years ahead of schedule and created eight new jobs.

The Welsh Government funding will allow it to create 17 highly skilled engineering jobs and safeguard a further 24.

Director Edward Rees, who founded the business in 1995, said: "Acquiring a larger unit was crucial for our growth and as soon as we knew we had support from the Welsh Government we were able to take on more projects.

"The new unit will enable us to increase production, bring some work in-house that is currently outsourced, allow us to develop some new systems and refurbish and re-programme more used packaging machinery, which is a growing market."
