New SME hub in South Wales would benefit from web-based monitoring system
Business in Focus, the specialist business support organisation for South Wales, has recently acquired Crownford House, creating a new commercial property hub for entrepreneurs and SMEs in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil town centre.
Business in Focus specialises in supporting and offering premises which are perfectly suited to SME requirements. It has supported thousands of start-ups and SMEs for more than 30 years, with teams co-ordinating access to finance, employment and HR advice, business accommodation and a range of other services. Several previous success stories, including Pirates and Paperdolls, Erica’s ceramics and Moto Tec, were at the launch of Crownford House to talk to prospective tenants.
At the opening night on October 11, several prospective tenants investigated the site, learning more about how Business in Focus can support them. Tenants have already begun to move into Crownford House, including Alpha Safety Training Ltd, Apollo Teaching Services and Incom CNS Wales Ltd.
Tenants will be granted access to services and offers through the Business in Focus organisation, such as flexible terms, a large communal space, no agent or administration fees and a building finished to an excellent standard with a lift to access all floors, and kitchen facilities on each level. Fully serviced offices, with refuse collection, security and heating issues all taken care of, allow tenants to focus on other concerns. The Business in Focus team is on hand with advice and support when needed.
Business in Focus Chief Executive, Katy Chamberlain, said:
“We’re very excited to expand our portfolio of properties into new parts of South Wales, and we are pleased with the level of interest we have received already, from prospective tenants. We know Merthyr Tydfil is brimming with entrepreneurial talent and we look forward to supporting the continued development of the town.
“Our unique offering means that even the smallest business has access to premises and professional business guidance, with our experienced team there to help every step of the way. We know from experience that hosting businesses together, under one roof, encourages peer support, collaboration and success, and we look forward to seeing enterprises thriving in Crownford House.”

A multi-business site used by many different businesses, probably in different industries, needs to have a great visitor monitoring system. This would minimise accidental disruptions from people ending up in the wrong place.
Time and Attendance South West offers the Management of Contractors and Visitors Software (MCVS) to help everyone from staff to visitors to the postman be in the right place at the right time.
This network-based application allows you to advance book visitor appointments and pre-book on site contractors, using either the PC based application or a user’s Internet browser. Unlike the typical “sign-in” book, this complies with GDPR because visitors can’t see each other’s data and it is only kept for as long as it is required.
If there is no reception area in your particular workspace, or if there is not a designated receptionist, we can also offer you the Self Service Visitor Management App, which enables visitors to check themselves in for appointments using a touchscreen.
This can send an email directly to the person who will be hosting them, and logs them in on the central system.
This app works in tandem with our Self Service Module, and this combination is perfect for businesses who rent or otherwise don’t own their properties. Many time and attendance systems require physical hardware, which can’t be installed when you don’t own the place where you work. Others only work in the cloud, which may not be suitable for your company’s needs due to bandwidth, security and software compatibility concerns.
Using our software and these apps, which can be accessed from the web or your mobile phone, you can gather and manage data on your employees’ attendance and workday timing, such as the length of their lunch breaks. Many office-based workplaces don’t believe in the usefulness of time monitoring, but we think differently.
It doesn’t have to be Big Brother – you don’t even need to take action on your data if you don’t want to. But we know from experience that companies find the new, almost real-time data we can offer them very useful in building up a bigger picture of your employees’ punctuality and productivity.
