New dual carriageway to help boost Newport regeneration

A new £13m dual carriageway designed to connect the A48 Newport Southern Distributor Road and the M4 motorway at junction 23A at Magor officially opened a few days ago, ushering in a new stage in a general regeneration project for the entire area.

According to a media news report on the matter, Welsh economy minister Edwina Hart is quite confident that the new road will have a positive effect on the area. “The development of this dual carriageway will have a positive impact on the economy of South East Wales through improved transport links for business, job creation and inward investment opportunities” said Mrs Hart.

“It will also improve resilience along a busy stretch of the M4 by providing a much shorter diversion route. All of which will help to transform Newport into an even more vibrant and well-located place to live and work” she added.
