New development scheme to bolster employment in West Rhyl
A new development that will see a 150,000 sq ft leisure and retail development with a supermarket and hotel being built in Rhyl could help boost the local economy and create jobs, its developers argued within the planning application.
Scarborough Group International is to build a 74,800 sq ft supermarket, 40,100 sq ft of retail and leisure units, 5,300 sq ft of cafes, a 7,500 sq ft pub and a 62-bedroom hotel on the Ocean Plaza site after securing planning permission from Denbighshire Council, a recent news report in the local media was able to reveal.
Lee Savage, development director of Scarborough, said: "We have worked closely with the council throughout the planning stages and are delighted to have received planning consent for a scheme which, once complete, will provide a great boost to the local economy and transform West Rhyl.
"This redevelopment will create further job opportunities and will provide the town with a much needed leisure and retail offer. We are now focusing our efforts on securing occupiers for the development and are looking forward to seeing the scheme come to fruition."
