Hospitals in Wales plagued by serious neonatal services staff shortage
During a recent evidence hearing before the National Assembly’s Children and Young People Committee, Health Minister Lesley Griffiths has admitted that Wales continues to face a recruitment problem for neonatal services.
In fact, the committee members described the lack of specialized neonatologists as “stark”, with 26 based in South Wales but just 1.5 in North Wales.
“Obviously staffing is something that we still need to work on . There are concerns about neonatologists in North Wales. All organisations have reviewed their processes for recruiting and retaining staff," said Ms Griffiths, according to a report by WalesOnline.
Whenever an institution is faced with severe staff shortages, one of the available solutions (beside actually filling the respective positions, of course) is an optimization of the current workforce’s shifts patterns, in order to increase their efficiency levels.
This can be easily done with the assistance of the software solution provided by Time and Attendance – Wales, that is not only capable of supporting up to 2000 employees, but also offers a lot of useful features such as shift swapping, shift premiums, secondary pay bands, absence and payroll summary, fast employee search, etc.
Moreover, since we’re using Web, mobile and wireless technology, the time and attendance information can be accessed from anywhere, making it even easier to manage.
