Furniture maker goes on recruitment drive
A furniture maker has recently opened its third North Wales factory on the Deeside Industrial Estate, creating more than 200 new jobs in the process, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
Westbridge Furniture Designs was supported by £488,000 of business finance from the Welsh Government, which was originally intended to lead to the creation of 153 jobs by the end of 2015.
The company, a subsidiary of Belfield Furnishing, has created 220 jobs and is on course to increase production from 100 items a week to more than 2,000.
It now supplies seven ranges to Ikea, including sofas, chairs, sofa beds and corner groups, and supplies to other retailers from the same factory.
Belfield chief executive Stephen Hampton said: "The new facility has also enabled us to target and win new business from other retailers across the UK, which provides them with a more sustainable option while also helping to reduce their carbon footprint as a number of them previously imported upholstered products."
