Employment opportunities in Wales go up by 14 percent
While the number of employment opportunities across Wales went up by 14 over the past couple of years, there was also a significant rise in skills shortage vacancies, where employers simply can’t find recruits with the appropriate skills to fill a position they have, figures obtained from the latest Employer Skills Survey from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) suggest.
The survey points out that there were 3,000 more job opportunities available in 2013 than in 2011, but on the other hand, a fifth of all vacancies could not be filled as candidates did not posses the right set of skills required for the job.
Ken Skates, Welsh Government deputy minister for skills and technology, said: "Whilst we will be working closely with employers to address their skills needs, we want to ensure that skills investment is seen as a shared responsibility.
"If the Welsh economy is to continue to grow then we must ensure employers, individuals and the Welsh Government work together and invest in the right skills for success."
Investing in a system designed to help streamline workforce and skill management across an organization is certainly a must for all companies looking to develop in a very solid and sustainable manner.
