Consumer electronics giant to create new jobs in Bridgend


One of the world’s largest and best-known consumer electronics giants has revealed plans to create 30 new jobs at its Pencoed facility near Bridgend, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

Sony will invest £1.1m to launch a new Digital Media Content Management division at the aforementioned facility, which will allow will customers to convert their video and media content to a digital format.

First Minister Carwyn Jones announced the Welsh Government was supporting the launch of the new division. He said: "Sony UKTEC, one of our anchor companies, makes a significant contribution to the Welsh economy and it’s great news that it is expanding and diversifying and I am delighted that Welsh Government support helped secure this investment for Pencoed.

"It will not only create new jobs for the area but help secure its long term sustainable future providing a service to customers around the world."
