140 new houses set to be built on development near Cardiff

Residential property developer Barratt Homes has submitted a planning application to Cardiff council for building a housing estate with 140 homes on an 8.5-acre plot near the city, a news report in the local business media has recently revealed.

The developer wants to build 124 two-, three- and four-bed houses near Taff’s Well with off-street parking, as well as 16 one- and two-bed apartments. It also intends to establish new open areas and extend the park-and-ride facility for Taff’s Well railway station to accommodate 50 cars.

The estate is set to be located on an 8.5-acre oval-shaped site between the A470 and the station, six miles north-west of Cardiff, on land that is currently used by a number of small-scale businesses, primarily for light industry and storage. The buildings currently on the site will be demolished, as part of the plan.
