Cardiff-based recruitment company expanding thanks to government funding
Recruit 121, a Cardiff-based recruitment agency specialising in the accountancy sector will expand using backing from the Welsh government. This will create 61 jobs.
The recruitment agency finds jobs for accountants within Wales, and also exports internationally. Its current clients include BMW, Nestle, Ralph Lauren and Bosch. It has recently moved to Capital Tower, and plans to expand further over the next 4 years by hiring more staff for the internal delivery teams.
Chief executive Che Hookings said: "As a Wales-based organisation, we are proud of our talented team who are working together to help us achieve our growth aspirations. We have worked closely with Welsh Government for some time and are very grateful for their support.
"With state of the art facilities in the heart of Cardiff, Recruit 121 Group provides an exceptional working environment and employee-centric, family-friendly policies, role modelling the type of organisation that others aspire to join.
"It’s important to me and the leadership team that we continue to build a highly collaborative working environment and culture.
"We are proud of our 4.8/5 Glassdoor rating and the fact 96 per cent of our team would recommend us as a great place to work. As Recruit 121 Group sets out on the next phase of our expansion, I’m as excited about growing our team of talented professionals as I am with supporting our clients."
Economy minister Ken Skates added: "I’m delighted that Welsh Government support is allowing this thriving business to create 61 new jobs and further extend its reach around the world. We recognise that these are challenging times for businesses, but remain committed to supporting Welsh businesses in every way we can to ensure they are given the necessary support to grow and prosper.
"It’s fantastic to see that Recruit 121 has also partnered with the Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme, working with Cardiff Business School on a two-year full-time programme of work, training and academic study unique to Wales which aims to recruit 40 graduates in order to develop a talent pool of industry professionals.
"Planning for the future and investing in staff and graduates is something that is right at the heart of our Economic Action Plan and it is certainly proving successful for this Cardiff based company. I’m pleased to see Welsh Government funding contribute to this vision and wish them every success with their expansion."

An influx of new staff is the perfect opportunity to check whether or not your time and attendance system is as efficient as it should be.
Many companies are still using paper timesheets to record their employees’ hours and calculate their weekly or monthly payslips. There are many disadvantages of using these in 2019. For example, if your timesheets are submitted monthly it is unlikely that employees will be able to remember their exact hours for the whole month.
This would then lead to incorrect payslips, which could cause problems with the employees, or even with outside authorities if you don’t realise that unreported overtime has put your employee over the Working Time Regulations.
Our time and attendance system records everyone’s entrance and exit from controlled doors, using either smartcards or the more expensive but more secure biometric measurements of hands or fingerprints. So there’s no more chance for employees to forget timings.
All the entrance/exit data from our system is exportable into a format suitable for all major payroll programmes.
The software automatically calculates whether employees’ shifts and hours would make them breach the Working Time Regulations, and also helps you to calculate the National Living Wage. One less thing to worry about.
We also have the Self Service Module, which can be accessed from a browser or from your mobile via the app (available on Android and iOS). This enables employees to sign in and out, and request holiday amongst other features.
