North Wales leisure destination to expand and create multiple new jobs
The increasingly popular Surf Snowdonia leisure destination in North Wales could expand even more in the near future, as it has revealed plans for a multimillion-pound expansion which includes the addition of a four-star hotel with spa and conference and wedding facilities. A new indoor adventure attraction is also envisaged, a news report has revealed.
A public consultation has now been launched for an expansion of the adventure destination in North Wales. The proposed investment would effectively double Surf Snowdonia’s workforce, creating more than 100 new jobs.
The new 106-bedroom hotel will be built on the shores of the lagoon, in an area which currently houses Surf Snowdonia’s glamping pod accommodation. The hotel will feature a zip wire which can fly guests across the 300-metre lagoon. The wooden glamping pods will be relocated to a new woodland setting on the south side of the lagoon.
A new indoor adventure attraction, to complement Surf Snowdonia’s water-based activities, would be housed in a 1,250 sq ft space and feature extreme slides and climbing. It will be constructed on a site that currently houses the Crash & Splash lagoon. Three themed party rooms will offer venue hire for birthdays and other celebrations.
Andy Ainscough, managing director of Surf Snowdonia, said: "We’re proud to fly the flag for adventure in North Wales, it’s a brilliant region, and rightly regarded as the UK’s capital of adventure.
"Our plans will build on our established high-quality leisure offer and deliver a landmark destination, not just for North Wales, but for the UK and beyond."
