Multiple jobs to be created at South Wales steel mill

Multiple new jobs are set to be created at a new steel mill in South Wales thanks to a number of contract wins, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

Caledan is a cold steel rolling mill supplying steel frame sections to the construction industry. It is backed by £134,000 of Welsh Government funding.

The Hengoed facility has already secured contracts with UK companies, resulting in an immediate recruitment drive, which will see up to 28 new roles being created.

Managing director Chris Morton said: "It is the result of a great deal of hard work that the business has got off to such a strong start. We believe this is a huge boost for the construction industry in Wales.

"By making such a specialised product for the local area and further afield, we are helping the construction industry thrive in Wales and beyond. It’s important that such important investment in Welsh and British businesses continues."
