Delivery company opens new 60,555 sq ft depot in Cardiff
One of the UK’s best-known delivery firms has recently opened up a new £3.5m, 60,555 sq ft depot in Cardiff, creating 35 new jobs in the process, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
DPD’s new facility, at Wentloog Corporation Industrial Park, is capable of handling more than 25,000 parcels per day and is double the size of DPD’s standard depot sites. It replaces the existing site on the Spring Meadow Industrial Estate, which is 30 years old.
The site will initially add up to 60 new routes and create 35 jobs in a range of roles as well as providing capacity for DPD to carry on growing in Cardiff for at least the next five years.
Dwain McDonald, DPD’s chief executive, said: "Our new flagship super depots are the largest and most efficient in our network.
"They enable us to expand our capacity, run our service efficiently and maintain our very high service standards. Most importantly they ensure we remain well ahead of demand from our business and retail customers.
"We’re investing in capacity for the future, so these huge depots will be able to continue to grow for the next five years and beyond."
