A specialist packaging business has revealed plans to create 70 new jobs in Newport after securing financial backing from the Welsh government, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

 

Essentra will expand its operations in Newport for the second time in under a year. It created about 20 jobs with the opening of a 52,000 sq ft facility in November 2014.

 

As part of the latest investment, backed by £143,000 business finance from the Welsh Government, the company will more than double staff numbers as it takes over an adjacent 225,000 sq ft site on Imperial Park.

 

Its Newport workforce will grow to more than 100 with recruitment already underway.

 

Hugh Ross, managing director – Europe at Essentra, said: "Our further substantial additional investment in Newport will extend the capability and capacity of the existing site, as a centre of excellence for the manufacture and future development of our extensive range of innovative packaging, and will ensure that we are optimally positioned to continue to meet the exacting requirements of our customers."
