Up to 140 jobs saved at Monmouthshire prep school under new deal
A Monmouthshire prep school has been saved out of administration after being sold to the former school of Francis Bacon and Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to find.
The St John’s-on-the-Hill and Brightlands School Trust Ltd entered administration on 6 July following reduced cash flow due to falling pupil numbers and Nigel Morrison and Alistair Wardell from professional services firm Grant Thornton were appointed as joint administrators.
They arranged a sale of the school’s business and certain assets to the historic Dean Close School in Cheltenham, securing the jobs of all 140 members of staff. The Dean Close School Cheltenham is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for children from 3-18 years that was originally founded in 1886.
