A site at Magor in Monmouthshire which employs 800 people will be shedding 150 supermarket staff. This is because shopping giant Tesco is reorganising its distribution system in the UK with the closure of three centres. Joanne McGuinness, the Usdaw union national officer, commented: “This is absolutely devastating news for our members and their families.” She added: “Usdaw will be entering into a 90-day consultation with Tesco to explore all possible options to reduce any job losses.”
